(1) World Robofest Championship on May 7

The 2011 Robofest World Championship Competition will be held at LTU�s Don Ridler Field House on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 pm.� 21000 West Ten Mile Road, Southfield, MI� 48075.

Sixty-seven teams that have advanced from 22 qualifying events and three regional competitions will compete in the Robofest World Championship.�

The events are open to the public. Admission is free. Parking is free. There will be free raffles for spectators. Spectators will decide Exhibition People's Choice Award. Obtain a form to vote for your People's Choice Exhibition when checking-in.

(2) Roanoke, VA Hosts RoboParade

Robofest has worked closely with the NewVa Corridor Technology Council, to organize an indoor Robot Parade with seminars and table-top exhibits at Roanoke Center in the Square and the Science Museum. �This event is being held in conjunction with the Science Museum of Western Virginia and the Roanoke Robotics Club. �In preparation for Memorial Day the following week, the parade theme is Patriotism, celebrating ingenuity and the American spirit. (3) Robofest at IGVC site is open (Jr. RoboSumo is back!)

TARDEC Joint Center for Robotics invited Robofest to have a competition on June 4-5 during IGVC (www.igvc.org). We will have Block the Oil Spill (BTOS) game, Jr. Sumo, Sr. nVn Sumo, and Sr. Vision Centric L2Bot Challenge competitions. Robofest teams are encouraged to visit College IGVC Robotics teams. We also plan to have a demonstration of believed to be the world's first Hexapod Robot Sumo. For more information such as team registrations, please go to

(4) ATTENTION BTOS GAME TEAMS! Compete at IGVC

BTOS Game teams have another opportunity to compete at the IGVC in June at Oakland University.� If your team is already registered with Robofest for the 2011 season, there is no registration fee for competing at Oakland.� We will be awarding gifts to all teams competing in the IGVC.� Please contact Jerri Ureel at [email protected] to sign your team up for this competition opportunity.

 

(5) Robotics Summer Camps at Lawrence Tech

-- for Coaches and Teachers with NXTG: June 24, 4 ~ 8pm, Lawrence Tech, Room: TBD (Free, bring your own NXT and laptop; pizza and pop will be provided)

-- for Students (5th ~ 12th grade) with NXTG: July 7, 10am ~ 3pm, ($20 per student, bring your lunch bag or $4 for pizza and pop/bottled water), Room TBD

-- for Coaches and teachers with C: July 11, 4 ~ 8pm, Lawrence Tech, Room: TBD (Free, bring your own NXT and laptop; pizza and pop will be provided)

-- for 8th~ 12th grade Students with C: July 14, 10am ~ 3pm, Room TBD ($20 per student, bring your lunch bag or $4 for pizza and pop/bottled water)
