(1) Robofest 2008 Team Registration will begin on Jan 21

Robofest is a festival of educational robotics competitions. Robofest 2008 will feature Games, Exhibition, RoboSumo, RoboFashion Show, VEX Pentathlon, and Mini Urban Challenge. The rules for 2008 season have been posted on the web at www.robofest.net.


New Robofest coach registration has been open at www.robofest.net


Registered coaches with Robofest Coach ID can register teams for a specific qualifying site tentatively from Jan. 21 on the web at www.robofest.net


(2) Robofest Information Meeting in Houston Texas -  Sat. Jan. 26, 2008
There will be a workshop on Sat. Jan 26, 2008 in Houston, TX for Robofest teams and those interested in learning more about Robofest and robotics in general. Please RSVP to [email protected]  by Friday, January 18th.

(3) MCWTF Robofest 2008 Grant Winners

The Michigan Council of Women in Technology Foundation (MCWTF) offers four $500 grants to all female Robofest 2008 Teams from Michigan. Here are the winner team names:


- Creations of the Mind (COM) from Livonia Public Schools

- GoBot Girls from Ida Public Schools

- Hillside Rockettes from Northville Public Schools

- an all girl team from Southfield Christian School

- Techno Puffs from Middleville


MCWTF (http://mcwtf.org) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to inspiring and assisting girls and women in Michigan to pursue technology education and careers.


(4) Fall Mini Urban Challenge video on YouTube

Inspired by the DARPA Urban Challenge, Robofest offers an indoor autonomous robot competition solely based on an onboard CCD camera as a sensor. The contestants are to use a laptop robotic platform called L2Bot. Teams must implement a vision guidance software system to allow the robot to maneuver a given course simulating roads and traffic signals. (6)  A New Robofest Coordinator

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Jerri Ureel became a new additional Robofest coordinator. She will be working together with Sally Mancini who works Thursdays and Fridays. Jerri�s email is [email protected] and she works on Mon, Tue, Thu, and Fri. We thank Department of Math and Computer Science and College of Arts and Sciences at LTU for supporting Robofest.
