Rule/Game Rule Changes and Clarifications
- A coach cannot register more than 5 teams. (It was 4.)
- The robot(s) may be activated by a touch sensor at the start
signal instead of pushing the green run button; i.e. The RCX would be
turned on and the programming running before the start of the round. At
the audible start signal, the human player(s) would press an easily accessible touch sensor(s)
to set the robot in motion. Of course they may press the green button(s), too.
- The distance between two blocks is at least 6 inches.
- If you miss photo uploading deadlines (March 26 - Team Photo and April 16 - Robot Photo), then
the team will lose some points for Judge's Award. We plan to print certificates on April 19. If you
miss this hard deadline, your certificates will not have photos.
- Any modification/addition of the ladder is not allowed.
- Inside the starting area, players can hold the robots to prevent them from rolling down
before the start signal is given.
- There will be a 20"x30" white foam board between playing fields so the robot cannot detect
inappropriate light sources.
- Two robots must be stacked to get points for removing first and second debris.
- If the 2nd robot destroys the constructed bridge while it is moving for the unveiled missions, the team needs to restart.
- Mission 7 (to reach the end of the road) is for 5 points, not 3.
- The total points for the unknown missions is 10, not 7
- If the 2nd robot fails in any mission, the team player may restart their robots
from the very beginning, rather than
the 2nd part. In this way the team can get the 5 extra points.
FAQ
- Q: Will the debris (soda bottles) always be placed
on the black line? The rules do not specifically say so.
A: Yes, the bottle should be placed on the black line.
- Q: In both cases (upper and lower boards), can they push the bottles, and not drop them
off until the end of the given board, or
must the bottles be pushed off right where they are placed (no foward pushing motion)?
A: Yes, forward pusing is OK, until the next task begins. For example,
if the first bottle is touched by the second bottle, then the task is in failure. Then
the robot needs to be restarted. As stated in the rule, the third bottle must be dropped off
within the board where it was located initially.
- Q:How referees are going to decide if the 2nd robot goes the
right direction?
A: The robot may turn around, however, it should not follow
the wrong line.
- Q:If the 2nd robot had successfully knocked off the third block
prior to the ladder drop, but the ladder drop was not successful, and the team decides to
restart from the road, will the robot have to remove the third block
again?
A: Yes. The referee will reset the bottle.
