Two robotic ballerinas by Block Robotics LegoLearning in Windsor
Robot Exhibition Description
Two robotic ballerinas built with the Lego Mindstorms kit dance to
Tchaikovsky's 'Sugar Plum Fairy'. Single light sensors are placed
inside
the robots ballerina slipper and attached to the RCX constructopedia
designed roverbot. Each dancer uses one light sensor, one touch
sensor, two
motors, and two wheels to perform a dance following lines on a unique
mat.
Initially, they must start from base and seek the correct path to
follow in
pace/time to the music. A green signal is used for the ballerinas to
spin
together at certain points on the track. They continue until reaching
a red
signal to reverse and repeat the routine travelling back to base and
stopping. If they are successful the robots should not crash into each
other, travel off the track and they should stop when reaching the
second
red signal on the track. During the Robotic Ballerina performance the
students perform a silent skit as the ballerina choregrapher, orchastra
conductor, and symphony members while the robots dance their 'Robotic
Sugar
Plum Fairy Recital'.
